For Reizigers, meisjes en een verstrikte bok the three cabinets of De Kabinetten van De Vleeshal were each arranged according to prominent themes in JanPeter Muilwijk’s work: Kyrië (the earthly); Gloria (the poetic); and Sanctus (the finale). Muilwijk’s paintings explore present-day interpretations of questions arising from religious values. His work, that often depicts human figures and animals, is much influenced by classic narrative painting and frescos.
