In December 2000 Swiss artist Susann Walder presented her outlook on the present-day celebration of Christmas in the western world.

Susann Walder’s Very Merry Christmas Show was an acerbic criticism of the continuing commercialization of Christmas in the western world. The walls of De Kabinetten van De Vleeshal were hung with an abundance of kitschy Christmas decorations; a Christmas tree threatened to collapse under its enormous weight of baubles. At the opening Walder performed her very individual renderings of Christmas hits.
