With this exhibition, Vleeshal reflects upon the marks and reverberations of war with a film and sculptural installation by Nguyễn. The artists’ first solo presentation in the Netherlands also brings local histories forward and will be accompanied by ornamental brass grenades crafted in Zeeland in the aftermath of the Second World War.
The opening also launches the project Diam! - what silence carries by multidisciplinary artist Tjaka Tomas, a sonic exploration of space and the ongoing echoes lived between Zeeland and the Moluccas through docks, seascapes and ancestral rhythm.
The project is undertaken in partnership with Stichting Mae-Uku, and forms part of an AIR Zeeland residency, supported by the Province of Zeeland.
